Whitelisting

What would you guys think of having a whitelist for the server?

If you aren't sure: A whitelist on a server means that you cannot join the server unless your name is on the list. This means that no new randoms would join; the only way people would be able to join is through applying on the forums and having me put their name onto the server. This would almost insure no griefing and would stop the cluster of idiots coming through with no intention of staying.

What are your thoughts about this?

Got my fully support on that decision. Having an complete trustworthy community is what we want! however we can't get it perfect this will improve it alot.

I think a whitelist is an awesome idea. It will stop alot of griefers and make the server even better! Btw this server is da bomb compared to other servers!!!

is there any way to get on the whitelist
i spent several weeks mining building Moria/balin's tomb and would like to continue work on it
I have always planted more trees than I have harvested
never griefed anyone on any server
just into coming up with ideas and building them

PS I am stilling rooting for the MAVS if that will help

I haven't been on this server for very long, but I think a whitelist sounds like a good idea.

Not a huge fun of whitelisted public servers. Having a contact process or an application process before being allowed on is going to stop curious people who only want to jump on for a short time, not assholes and trolls.

A whitelist would be nice since griefing would almost be nonexistent. On the other hand, I would have never found this server if it was whitelisted...
If you do decide to whitelist, please don't forget to add RedSerpent and Toyotaspeed

I'm not entirely sure what to do. Whitelisting will stop griefers but would stop people who are curious about the server as Kupo said.
I'm willing to go either way.

Yeah you would think... I was an admin on a server for about 2 months and the whitelist there was pretty strict towards griefers and such, but still a large number got through. Whitelisting is really useful if you're trying to control the number of people on your server, it won't stop griefers.

I'm in favor of whitelisting, hoping the two friends I play with (Ryanhellsing and Brittanyleighski) and myself (Bullitz07) would be on that list. We keep to ourselves and do help out by planting trees where possible. I think monitoring the amount of people in the server with people who are more or less trusted could keep out the majority of griefers, or at least I would hope.

I agree with this idea if im on the whitelist and it would be good for the server to have no greifers coming in every day.

Wouldn't it be nice if anyone could join once and obey rules/decide whether they like the server and then before the next time they joined they had to be put on the whitelist?

I like the idea, but you have to make sure that everyone one the server who is a regular would know that it is turning into a whitelist server. And make sure to put a link to where we apply to the whitelist because I have no clue what so ever how to apply for whitelisting.
